Here's the thing about the 501st...

Katie Charland sure knows a lot about stormtroopers. Almost TOO much. Rebel spy?

Follow your own rules

We spend out days trying to be liked, hoping to be accepted and striving to be respected. Stop living by other people’s rules, if only for a little while. You’re wasting your time and theirs by being something that you’re not.

It’s going to be frustrating, it’s probably going to hurt and it’s going to be humbling. People will unfollow you, unfriend you and complain about you. Let them.

Live by your own rules for a while, then see who’s left. Those are your friends. Those are the people you should listen to.

Good luck.

Shut up and jump around. Try it right now.

Now go back to whatever else you think you were doing.
Feels good, doesn’t it?

Success is never measured by stats

Success shouldn’t be measured by statistics. No one cares how many events you put on. No one cares how many networking meetings you attend every week. No one cares how many people are in your address book.

Relationships + sales = success. No matter what you say, where you go or who you know, it’s what you make happen that counts. Whether you count wins as sales made, clients signed or tasks accomplished, stop keeping track of everything else.

Win and no one will care about anything else.

How Twilight is just like real life

Ha! Twilight is nothing like real life. First, vampires like to have sex. Lots. Blade, the most realistic vampire movie ever, shows this right away. Vampires getting blowjobs, having orgies, hell Stephen Dorff’s character (coolest vampire hair ever) screwed Blade’s mom!

Also, Twilight vampire boy (Edward?) refuses to screw the hot chick (Bella?). Seriously? Obviously, Edward is gay. Way gay. Seeing as how he bites people’s necks for food. we know he’s not holding out because of some statutory rape crap. So he’s gay. Next, there’s a clan? Like a whole group of vampires? NOBODY REALIZES THIS? Blade would have stomped those weak-ass vampires in a second. How? Seduce them with some Lady Gaga and then stake them bitches.

So, in a nutshell, Twilight is totally false.

It's not satire when it sucks

No, I don’t like Tweets for Twats. No, I don’t like Andrew Long, either. Yes, I’ve been known to trash people’s ideas and offend while doing so. Long claims his comic is satire; a tale about the battle of good versus evil or some Renaissance Fair ideal. But Long’s comic isn’t satire, it’s poor humor. It’s him picking on those that either won’t fight back or will react so strongly that he’ll gain notoriety. It’s a gossip rag of the worst kind, created by Long, a guy who, for all his alleged insights, doesn’t seem to show up much or participate in any meaningful conversations with his targets. PS…yes, I know about the spacing issue, but it’s still legible, so bite me. Oh, and Andrew, you’re welcome. This is a shitty way to get attention.

Does criticism require solutions?

No one likes non-constructive criticism. Pointing out flaws without providing solutions can be most infuriating to whoever is responsible for fixing the problem.
Get over it. As a creator of any type, criticism should be your best friend. Even better if it’s free, unfiltered criticism that points out flaws that you never dreamed of.

Not everyone has answers. Not everyone is qualified to even talk about what the answers are. When people post critiques, they are USING YOUR PRODUCT and they want it to be better.
There’s always the few how regularly and repeatedly sling criticism without offering any sort of help. They should be REQUIRED to offer help, but many do not. Get over it and use what they say to get better.

Oh, and for those control freaks who want to control every aspect of their creations, you need to either make it easier to get involved or stop whining about people complaining. You don’t always get to determine HOW people contribute, but you can determine IF they do. Make it simple, but not necessarily easy.
